Spruce Wood: A Timeless, Sustainable, and Exceptionally Versatile Material

Spruce is widely known for its iconic role during the holiday season, but its qualities go far beyond decorative symbolism. Spruce wood is a natural, versatile material that has been valued for centuries thanks to its excellent technical characteristics. Its structure makes it easy to work with—lightweight yet strong, elastic, and durable. It’s no coincidence that spruce is one of the most commonly used woods in the construction industry, particularly in the production of wooden windows and doors.

Why Choose Spruce Wood Windows

Spruce is carefully selected from the moment of felling: only the finest trunks are used to create high-quality products. These, precisely processed, become solid, high-performing wooden windows built to last.
One of the main advantages of spruce wood fixtures is thermal insulation. In fact, spruce boasts the lowest thermal conductivity value among wood species. This translates—given the same glass unit, profile, and surface area—into better window performance and lower energy consumption for heating and cooling the building throughout the year.

Fine Finishes and Sustainability

Spruce wood is also ideal for high-end finishes, both lacquered and stained, making it perfectly adaptable to any architectural style—classic, rustic, or modern. Each window can be customized to match the building’s interior decor and exterior design.

From an environmental perspective, choosing locally sourced wooden windows is an ethical and conscious decision. Spruce grows abundantly in the Alps and the Apennines, making a short supply chain possible, which reduces emissions related to transportation. This helps support the local economy and promotes a more sustainable, eco-friendly production of wooden fixtures.

Renewing with Respect: The Contrà Soarda Project

restauro del b&b contrà soarda

Imposing palaces, ancient farmhouses, churches steeped in history, and timeless castles: these elements make Italy a true open-air museum, a country where every stone, every structure, every architectural detail tells a unique and unrepeatable story. These are traces of a past that continues to live in the present, silent witnesses of distant eras and traditions that shape our landscape.

Intervening on these buildings, preserving their essence while adapting them to modern needs, is a challenge that requires great sensitivity, an attentive ear, and profound respect for the context. Every renewing is a blend of past, present, and future, of memory and innovation. Finding the right balance between aesthetics and functionality is an art that demands care, respect, and expertise. The real challenge is to integrate technologically advanced solutions without disrupting the harmony and charm of these places, preserving the magical, historic, and lived atmosphere that makes them unique and irreplaceable.

Our Concrete Contribution to this Renewing Project

With this vision in mind, ARBOR is proud to have contributed to the renovation project of an ancient farmhouse in Contrà Soarda, in Bassano del Grappa, Province of Vicenza. This intervention represented an important opportunity to demonstrate how tradition and innovation can coexist in perfect harmony, enhancing an architectural context rich in historical and cultural significance.

Regarding the external window frames, the goal of the architect and the client was to maximize the entry of natural light into all rooms, creating brighter and more welcoming spaces without compromising thermal insulation performance. The choice fell on our ZENIT model windows, crafted from light walnut-stained varnished larch wood, a solution that ensures excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. Thanks also to the internal insulation of the existing masonry, the result was a substantial improvement in the building’s energy efficiency, all while preserving its architectural style and highlighting its natural beauty.

For the interior fittings, natural oak doors with a minimalist design were chosen, perfectly combining modernity and tradition. They respect the historic soul of the place while adding a contemporary touch. Each door represents the perfect balance between design and craftsmanship, enhancing the natural beauty of the wood and giving the spaces an authentic character.

Through this project, ARBOR once again reaffirms its mission: to unite beauty, functionality, and respect for historical heritage, creating solutions that not only enrich the spaces but also preserve their soul and memory for future generations.
