The Historic Mussolente’s Town Hall: Wood as a Bridge Between Past, Present, and Future

arbor legno realizzazioni: comune di mussolente

In the heart of Vicenza province, in the town of Mussolente, stands the historic municipal building, originally constructed in 1907. Today, thanks to a renovation project by DIDONÈ COMACCHIO ARCHITECTS, the structure has been given new life—meeting modern seismic safety standards and reimagined for cultural and public use.

The revitalized building of Mussolente’s Town Hall now hosts a prestigious exhibition dedicated to local arts and crafts, as well as a multipurpose hall on the second floor designed for events and community gatherings.

This project is a shining example of how local architectural heritage can be enhanced through a careful balance of innovation, functionality, and tradition.

Wooden Frames: Energy Efficiency with Historical Consistency

For the interior and exterior windows and doors, architects Paolo Didoné and Devvy Comacchio opted for solutions that merge aesthetic appeal with high energy performance.
Custom-made laminated spruce wood frames and entrance doors were installed to improve the building’s thermal insulation. At the same time, the original internal doors and exterior shutters were meticulously restored to preserve their authenticity.
This approach allowed the project to maintain the building’s historic identity, while integrating state-of-the-art window and door technologies.

ARBOR’s Role: Craftsmanship in the Service of Architecture

We at ARBOR are proud to have contributed to this important renovation by crafting the custom wooden windows and doors. The use of laminated spruce, combined with our artisanal expertise, enabled us to support a transformation where design, engineering, and cultural value coexist in harmony.
The balance between history and modernity in Mussolente’s Town Hall is what makes this project truly unique. Wood—noble, versatile, and sustainable—proved to be the perfect material to connect past and future. Being part of this journey has been a great source of pride for our team.

Wood and Carbon Footprint: Steps on the Path Toward Sustainability

carbon footprint

Choosing wood for a low environmental impact

Choosing wood products means making a concrete choice for sustainability: compared to alternative materials, wood has a significantly lower carbon footprint, assuming the same production process and life cycle.
This results in greatly reduced CO₂ emissions, directly contributing to the fight against climate change. To achieve these results, it is essential that the wood comes from responsibly managed sources, in accordance with internationally recognized standards such as the FSC® Chain of Custody certification, which ARBOR proudly obtained in 2021.

Carbon Footprint: transparency and awareness

Measuring and certifying the carbon footprint means precisely analyzing a product’s entire life cycle—from production to transport, all the way to disposal. This approach provides clear, verifiable data that are essential for truly reducing environmental impact.
Some pioneering companies have already embarked on this virtuous path, standing out for their commitment and transparency—one of them is ZORDAN.

ZORDAN: sustainability and innovation

ZORDAN, a company based in Valdagno (Northern Italy), is a benchmark in the field of sustainability. Specialized in custom projects for the luxury retail sector, it has developed an advanced system to quantify and certify the carbon footprint of each project.
This approach allows clients to gain greater awareness of the most impactful stages of the production cycle and to take concrete steps to reduce emissions.
A tangible example of this commitment was showcased in a scale model exhibited until 2023 at MUSE – the Science Museum in Trento, where the company’s real strategies for working sustainably were illustrated.

ARBOR’s inspiration to build a better future together

At ARBOR, we look to ZORDAN’s example with great respect and admiration. We consider it a leading company in the sector, capable of combining innovation, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility.
We thank ZORDAN for sharing its journey and for inspiring us on our own path toward increasingly sustainable, low-impact production.

Sustainability: do we really mean it?

sostenibilità

Sustainability is one of the most frequently used words in recent years, but what does it actually mean? How can we truly apply it?
Acting sustainably means making decisions that meet our present needs without compromising the future of the next generations, ensuring that they too can do the same.
In the construction industry, sustainability can be translated into concrete choices in many ways: for example, by using materials that not only respect the environment but also help regenerate it. Among sustainable materials, wood undoubtedly stands out as a key player.

Wood: A Timeless Material

Wood is a renewable raw material with unique characteristics such as durability and stability. These qualities make it ideal for long-lasting constructions with a reduced environmental impact. Besides its aesthetic appeal, wood provides excellent thermal insulation, improving the energy efficiency of buildings and helping to reduce the consumption of natural resources. Moreover, unlike many other building materials, wood is suitable for renovation and restoration, making it even more sustainable in the long term.

Investing in Wood: A Choice That Pays Off

Choosing wood is a strategic choice for the future. Wooden window frames, for instance, not only enhance thermal insulation but also help reduce energy consumption, lowering management costs. Additionally, wood ages gracefully: a wooden frame does not become obsolete but gains value over time, becoming even more charming and durable.

Our Concrete Commitment to Sustainability

For us at ARBOR, sustainability is not just a goal; it is a daily challenge. Our contribution to this cause involves a conscious choice to invest in wood as a building material, ensuring its origin from responsibly managed forests — certified by the FSC® chain of custody — and offering services that include the restoration of ancient wooden artifacts.

Make the Right Choice for the Future

Choosing wood today is a winning investment for the future. It is a decision that not only improves the quality of your home but also helps build a better world for future generations. If you are ready to make a conscious choice, we are here to help you bring your dream project to life.

Tax Incentives 2025: Window Replacements Still Among the Eligible Interventions

Tax Incentives 2025: Window Replacements Still Among the Eligible Interventions

The 2025 Budget Law introduces important updates in terms of tax incentives for homes, offering new opportunities for those who wish to invest in building renovation and energy efficiency. Among the key changes is the gradual reduction of tax deductions for building recovery and energy efficiency interventions, along with the confirmation of home, safety, and eco-bonuses.

In this context, choosing high-quality materials like wood becomes a winning strategy for improving your home with sustainable and durable solutions.

Tax Incentives for Building Renovation and Energy Efficiency

For all of 2025, window replacements remain among the incentivized interventions, with a tax deduction of 50% for primary residences and 36% for other properties.

Starting January 1, 2026, the tax deduction for building recovery and energy efficiency expenses will undergo a progressive reduction:

  • For primary residences: the deduction will decrease from 50% to 36%.
  • For other properties: the deduction will drop from 36% to 30%.

When it comes to windows, choosing products that guarantee high energy performance and long durability is crucial. In this scenario, wood remains an undisputed protagonist: natural, insulating, and renewable, it represents an excellent solution for those wishing to combine aesthetics and energy savings. High-quality wooden windows improve thermal insulation, contributing to energy consumption reduction and increasing the value of the property.

Investing in the Home with Informed Choices

The new tax incentives 2025 emphasize the importance of investing in one’s home with a long-term perspective: improving thermal insulation, regulating indoor temperatures, and optimizing systems are all actions aimed at reducing primary energy consumption for a more sustainable future.

Replacing windows with new wooden windows allows for combining excellent performance with beauty and sustainability.

At ARBOR, we work to offer quality and durability in our products, made with certified profiles and high-quality materials to ensure excellent performance over time.

Taking advantage of tax incentives to improve your home with wood is a choice that pays off both today and in the future, because a wooden window can become antique, but never old.

The Charm of a Material that Makes History

The Charm of a Material that Makes History

This magnificent door is located in Piazza Navona, Rome, in the Basilica of Sant’Agnese in Agone. Being a masterful and unmistakable work dating back to the late 17th century, it was restored in 2019 as part of an important project for the conservation and enhancement of the church. This monumental entrance has endured over four centuries, remaining in excellent condition despite the passage of time and exposure to weather factors. Every part of it tells a story of craftsmanship, ingenuity, and dedication—qualities that continue to inspire artisans and designers today.

An emblem of the extraordinary artisan skills of its time, the door is made of solid wood, with hinges, straps, and bolts in hand-forged wrought iron. The hardware, crafted with expertise and precision, is fixed with nails and embedded into the wood, ensuring solidity and durability over the centuries. Every detail was designed to blend aesthetics and functionality, maintaining a perfect balance between visual lightness and structural grandeur. Its harmonious proportions and attention to detail make it a true masterpiece, capable of captivating anyone who gazes upon it. Thanks to the extraordinary care in craftsmanship and the choice of the finest materials, the door boasts impeccable coplanarity—a concept still appreciated by the best designers today.

Why We Love Our Work

Wood, with its strength and ability to endure through the centuries without losing its beauty, is the true protagonist of this masterpiece. It is a timeless material that matures gracefully, acquiring charm and character. Its appearance changes slightly over the years, but its essence remains intact, testifying to the value of a natural and sustainable choice.

At Arbor, WE WORK WITH WOOD because every window and door should be like this door: beautiful, sturdy, functional, potentially unique, and renewable. Each of our projects is born from a passion for quality, with fine materials and meticulous craftsmanship that guarantee long-lasting products. Because wood is not just a material; it is a conscious choice, a tribute to elegance and sustainability.

Let’s remember: a wooden frame can become ancient, but never old.
